On the 9th of April, Monash BEST co-hosted an event with the Australian Tunnelling Society (ATS) in the Green Chemical Futures Building at Monash University. The event was nothing short of a great success attended by several prominent figures of the tunnelling industry including the head of the ATS, Richard Buckingham and Arnold Dix, President of the International Tunnelling Association, the man behind the marvellous rescue of the 41 trapped miners in India back in November 2023. Moreover we were so lucky to be joined by Olga Mikhaylova, Engineering Manager at CPB Contractors, Damien Bueno Onorato, Senior Staff Engineer at Delve Underground and Will Curlewis, Construction Manager at GS E&C.

Our CEO and CTO, Hung Dau and Brandon Yeo respectively, were given the esteemed opportunity to present Monash BEST to an audience of over 60 people and allure them to the tremendous growth that our team has traversed over the past couple of months. The mighty and impressive miniGaia, the digital prototype of our TBM was showcased to everyone at the event which signalled our future ambitions and how committed we are to revolutionising the tunnelling industry.

The festivities did not just stop there as Mr.Dix and Mikhaylova were kind enough to give us insights and knowledge that they have accumulated over the several years that they've operated in the tunnelling industry. And just when it seemed like things couldn't get better, Antonia Theodoulou from Aurecon held the most amazing panel discussion where Mrs. Mikhaylova, Mr.Curlewis, Mr. Onorato and Mr.Dix answered the audience's questions about their time in the industry and shared with the audience the future trajectory of the world of tunnelling and TBM’s. To seal the proceedings, the fantastic Luke Lu from Aurecon alerted all of us to the growing job prospects available in this growing sector, which was just the reassurance we needed.
All this was followed by a solid session of lively networking and a very generous amount of pizza and soda that didn't last very long.

In short, this event was a great opportunity for all of those present whether in person or online, to be alerted to the importance of TBM’s and the magnitude of the project we are trying to accomplish.
Look forward to seeing all of you at the next big event! Stay turned for the updates.
